Dominica reports about their tourism recovery in 2022 and predicts tremendous growth in 2023
As reported by Discover Dominica, the tourism office for the island nation, there has been a significant increase in 2022 tourism arrival numbers and they foresee that the growth will be even more prominent in 2023. In 2022 Dominica welcomed 60,704 visitors and the comparison to 2021 of 14,888 visitors essentially tripled.
There are many key factors as to why this increase occurred. This includes the demand for travel post-pandemic, uncomplicated COVID-19 protocols, and the destination’s first direct flight from the United States of America, besides being a highly alluring Caribbean destination. In November 2022, the American Airlines service contributed nearly 35 % of all carrier contributions to the island. There are plans to increase the frequency of flights in the schedule. This airline addition has been an enormous benefit for Dominica and will continue to be.
The CEO of Discover Dominica, Colin Piper, expressed that as a nation, they are still working towards recovery due to the downfall of numbers during the height of the pandemic. Nevertheless, they are starting the year 2023 with determination and have already gained multiple bookings throughout the travel season and winter.
