Antigua and Barbuda’s international connectivity continues to strengthen, with British Airways announcing that it will extend its daily service between London Gatwick and Antigua through April 2027.
The expanded schedule will add more than 3,000 seats between the UK and Antigua, giving travellers greater flexibility during one of the island’s busiest periods and reflecting continued growth in demand from the British market.
For those considering Antigua not simply as a holiday destination, but as a place to own property, spend extended periods of time or establish a second home, improved air access is another important part of the picture.
UK Demand for Antigua Is Growing
The UK has long been one of Antigua and Barbuda’s most important international markets, and the latest visitor figures point to continued momentum.
Between January and August 2026, Antigua and Barbuda welcomed 53,439 stay-over visitors from the UK, an increase of 11.2% compared with the same period in 2025. British Airways’ decision to continue daily service throughout April 2027 will add more than 3,000 seats to the route.
British Airways currently connects London Gatwick directly with V.C. Bird International Airport, with a flight time of approximately eight and a half hours. The airline will operate daily service through April 2027, followed by five weekly flights from May through the end of October.
The extended daily schedule will also coincide with one of Antigua’s signature international events, Antigua Sailing Week, taking place from April 21–25, 2027.
Connectivity Matters Beyond Tourism
For international buyers and families considering a greater connection to the Caribbean, accessibility matters.
Antigua combines the lifestyle advantages of a Caribbean island with established direct links to major international cities. Increased capacity from London makes it easier for UK-based owners to spend longer periods on the island, travel back and forth throughout the year and welcome visiting family and friends.
It is also part of a wider story of investment in Antigua and Barbuda’s international connectivity. As visitor demand grows and the country continues to strengthen its position as a Caribbean gateway, reliable international access supports not only tourism, but also the long-term appeal of living, owning property and investing on the island.
More Than a Place to Visit
For many of our clients, the appeal of Antigua goes well beyond its beaches.
There is an established international community, a strong sailing and yachting culture, excellent restaurants, year-round events and a growing selection of high-quality residential developments. English is the official language, and the island offers an established environment for people looking to spend more of their time in the Caribbean.
Antigua and Barbuda also continues to offer a Citizenship by Investment Programme, including approved real estate options for qualifying applicants. For those considering a broader Plan B, this can bring together property ownership, greater time in the Caribbean and second citizenship within one long-term strategy.
British Airways’ expanded schedule is another sign of the international demand and connectivity supporting that lifestyle.
At Citizens International, we help clients look at the full picture, from citizenship and immigration to finding the right property and establishing a base in Antigua.
