Antigua & Barbuda CBI Applications went up 36% in 2021! On the 3rd of February 2022, Prime Minister Gaston Browne gave a budget speech to the Parliament disclosing that the country’s citizenship by investment program applications has gone up this year! Receiving 498 applications for just the year 2021, he stated the improvement over the past years and how they recorded 366 applications during 2020 and 472 in 2018. You can see the wave since the pandemic, however, things are definitely looking up!
With this good news comes more, as he also revealed that the program had raised government revenues amounting to EC$123.1 million or about US$46 million during 2021, which has definitely increased since EC$115.7 million in 2020. This does not even include the investments in privately owned real estate developments! PM Browne went on to say that since 2013, when the CIP programme started in Antigua & Barbuda, the revenues have contributed generously to the social and economic development of the country. “All its transactions have been an open book, with everyone able to track its income and expenditures in a system of public disclosure.” – Prime Minister Gaston Browne – IMI Daily
Despite the fact that Antigua & Barbuda’s CBI program has failed to publish its statistics twice a year since 2019, and have now reported that they receive more applications via the National Development Fund (9 out of 10 as stated by the PM), Citizens International can say that our statistics for Real Estate has gone up by far since 2019. However, PM states that 89.5% that barely any of the program’s participants are making investments in real estate or business anymore.
