If it is a property that will appeal to the main second home markets (North America and Europe although we have homeowners in Antigua from all over the world), then that is a good start.
An example of a less appealing investment project would be, a hotel room – location, quality and rental operation and income may be good, but if there is no citizenship program in five years when you want to resell, who will buy a hotel room unless it has citizenship attached? Most vacationers want condos or villas, so hotel rooms are only attractive to citizenship-motivated buyers. An exception might be if the hotel room has a kitchen and is in a great location i.e., more of a studio apartment.
Another thing to look for is if you’re buying a share of a property, how many shares are in the property and what are comparable whole properties selling for? The best way to protect yourself is to research the market, but also to work with someone who knows the difference and will give you ALL the details on the property and the market.
