The Best Time to Visit Grenada

Jun 11, 2025

Grenada should be on your bucket list if you’re a spice enthusiast. The Isle of Spice is teeming with a variety of spices such as cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and turmeric growing all year round that you can taste and buy through guided tours and local culinary experiences.

But even if you can discover these spices and visit this beautiful Caribbean country anytime, you should still put some thought into choosing the best time to visit Grenada.

The Perfect Destination to Escape Winter

The best time of year to visit Grenada is December. During this month, the rainy season is on its way out. The country experiences less rainfall and the temperatures range from 840F (290C) to 880F (310C) – the perfect conditions to enjoy the beaches and other outdoor activities.

Many travelers from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe visit Grenada this month to escape the cold winter. As such, you have to deal with plenty of tourists at this time.

However, you may enjoy more hotel and airport deals during this time, which means you can save money on your travel. Moreover, you get to spend Christmas in one of the loveliest and most vibrant countries in the Caribbean.

You can also take part in one of the oldest festivals in the country and a favorite among locals and Caribbean passport holders: the Carriacou Parang Festival. This event showcases competitions and presentations featuring traditional Christmas carols and other fun, unique musical performances that will get you into the holiday spirit.

The dry season, which is typically between January and April, is the best time to visit Grenada weather-wise. During these months, you can expect sunny days and cool evenings, perfect for exploring the country and enjoying plenty of outdoor activities.

However, there are more tourists to contend with because it’s still winter in Europe and North America. Many people from these places visit Grenada for warmth and to enjoy the beach.

Because of the influx of tourists at this time, be prepared to spend more on your accommodation, airfare, and holiday activities. You should also plan to make reservations several months in advance to avoid any problems with your trip.

Besides escaping winter, visiting Grenada during these months lets you join several world-famous events, such as the Spice Island Billfish Tournament and Grenada Sailing Week.

Visiting Grenada During Shoulder Season

Grenada’s shoulder season is between May and June. During these months, there are fewer tourists, and hotel rates and air fares are lower.

The shoulder season is the best time to visit Grenada and the Caribbean if you want to enjoy a quieter, more laidback vacation.

The amount of rainfall typically increases during these months, so pack an umbrella and a few rainy-day outfits when you visit. However, the rain usually comes in short bursts, which cool down the temperature and make the foliage and green spaces lush and more vibrant.

During the shoulder season, you can see more dolphins and whales swimming around the seas. You can also join the Chocolate Fest, a local festival celebrating Grenada’s organic cocoa and chocolate products.

Top Places to Visit in Grenada

Below are the best places to explore on the Island of Spice, regardless of when you visit the country:

1. Grand Anse Beach

Grand Anse is Grenada’s most popular and picturesque destination. The beach covers two miles of white sand and clear blue water.

The beach offers exceptional views of the sea and the docked fishing boats. You can also enjoy different water sports, including scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing, parasailing, and kayaking.

Grand Anse Beach is lined with restaurants, cafes, and shops. You’ll love the dining and shopping options here.

2. Morne Rouge

Morne Rouge, or BBC Beach, is another great place for a beach day in Grenada. This crescent-shaped beach surrounded by hills and trees is known for its soft white sands and azure waters.

Its clear waters and colorful underwater marine life make it a popular snorkeling spot. You can also enjoy authentic Caribbean food and other cuisines in the area.

3. Grand Etang National Park & Forest Reserve

Grenada’s most popular hiking spot is Grand Etang, a rainforest with a 36-acre crater lake in an extinct volcano surrounded by lush green trees. The area is home to different species of fauna and flora, including armadillos, lizards, mona monkeys, tropical mockingbirds, mahogany, teak, and rare varieties of orchids.

The Grand Etang National Park & Forest Reserve also has several must-visit waterfalls and hot springs.

4. St. George’s

The capital of Grenada is always worth a visit, thanks to its colorful, gorgeous houses and other attractions. It is considered one of the loveliest harbor towns and a prime Caribbean real estate spot.

St. George is teeming with must-visit landmarks. These include the Carenage, St. George’s marina, Fort Frederick, and the Grenada National Museum.

You can also start learning about and shopping for the country’s world-famous spices at the Market Square.

5. Laura’s Herb and Spice Garden

Laura’s Herb and Spice Garden is the ultimate destination for all spice enthusiasts. Here, you can join a guided tour to learn about the different trees and plants, including the local spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, pimento, and chadon beni.

After exploring the massive garden, you can relax in a wooden gazebo and visit the gift shop to buy your choice of spices for your personal use or to hand out as souvenirs.

Enjoy the Grenadian Lifestyle and Attractions Anytime of the Year

Obtaining Grenada citizenship by investment lets you visit the Isle of Spice anytime, with fewer hassles and even additional benefits.

By making a government donation or investing in a government-approved property, you can apply for a Grenada passport. If you choose the real estate investment pathway, you can own a house, villa, or condo, which can be your holiday home here.

You can also earn rental income from your property whenever you are out of the country.

A Grenada passport gives you visa-free travel to over 144 countries, including Hong Kong, China, and Russia.

Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment Program also allows lifetime dual citizenship and eligible family members to apply for their passports.
