The Best Time to Visit Antigua and Barbuda

Mar 14, 2025

With 365 beaches to boast of, it’s safe to say you can visit Antigua and Barbuda any time of the year since you won’t run out of places to explore and things to do here.

But since the Caribbean weather can sometimes be unpredictable, you would do well to know the best time to visit Antigua and Barbuda to make the most of your visit here.

Whether you’re a visitor or a citizen through the Antigua and Barbuda Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP), you can enjoy every minute of your stay here by choosing the best time to visit this country.

What’s the Best Time to Go to Antigua and Barbuda?

The best time to visit Antigua is from December to April or winter through spring. During this time, the island has cooler, pleasant weather conditions and less rainfall.

  • December is a great month to visit Antigua since rainfall begins to decline. The low temperatures make exploring the island more comfortable. The foliage is also greener and more beautiful, making it a stunning, must-see sight.

These conditions make the twin islands popular during this month, attracting more visitors than at any other time of the year. Besides the cooler temperatures, travelers flock to the country for the annual Antigua Charter Yacht Show. As such, be prepared for higher accommodation rates if you wish to travel here in December.

  • January and February have longer sunlight, cooler temperatures, and less rainfall than the rest of the months. Because of these, the country draws hundreds of visitors who are looking forward to enjoying the perfect vacation on a paradise island.
  • There is rainfall in Antigua and Barbuda during March, but less than rain in January. If you don’t mind a bit of rain, consider going to the country during this month to stay cool and comfy as you enjoy the numerous beaches.
  • April is considered by many as the best month to visit Antigua and Barbuda because there’s less rainfall than in March, and the weather is simply sunny and pleasant. It’s also not too humid, making it the ideal time to  enjoy the outdoors.

Additionally, the island is less crowded during this month, which means you can relax and unwind more at the beaches and other popular attractions.

Antigua Sailing Week and the Antigua and Barbuda International Kite Festival usually take place in April as well. If you time your visit here right, you can be part of these great events, which are worth adding to your itinerary.

  • If you want to enjoy low accommodation rates any time, visit the country between May and November. However, June to November is hurricane season, so you’ll likely have a rainy vacation. Pack an umbrella to be safe and be prepared to spend plenty of time engaging in indoor activities since you might not be able to go out during a storm.

What Are the Best Places to Visit in Antigua and Barbuda?

Now that you have an idea of the best time to travel to Antigua and Barbuda, work on your itinerary. Start by adding these must-visit places to your list:

  • Dickenson Bay
  • Ffryes Beach
  • Half Moon Bay Beach
  • Hawksbill
  • Low Bay Beach
  • Pigeon Point Beach
  • Princess Diana Beach
  • Betty’s Hope
  • Devil’s Bridge
  • Fort James
  • Museum of Antigua and Barbuda
  • Nelson’s Dockyard
  • Shirley Heights
  • St. John’s Cathedral

These are only some of the best beaches and natural and historical places to visit in Antigua and Barbuda.

What’s the Best Way to Visit Antigua and Barbuda Any Time of the Year?

Whether you want to go to Antigua and Barbuda between December and April or during other months, you can enjoy the convenience of traveling and staying here by getting a second passport through a Caribbean Citizenship by Investment Program.

Antigua and Barbuda is one of the Caribbean nations offering CIPs that allow foreigners to become legal citizens. With a passport from this country, you can enter and leave the islands as well as other countries in this part of the world at any time.

An Antigua and Barbuda passport also allows you visa-free entry to over 150 countries. Moreover, you don’t have to renounce your nationality since the country gives you dual citizenship status.

Antigua and Barbuda’s CIP and other Caribbean citizenship programs offer four pathways:

  • Government donation of at least US$230,000
  • University donation of at least US$300,000
  • Business investment of at least US$400,000
  • Real estate purchase of at least US$300,000

The real estate option allows you to own residential property while getting a second passport from Antigua and Barbuda. Therefore, you can have a place where you can stay whenever you’re in the country.

Aside from enjoying the comforts and privacy of having your home, you can save money on your accommodation since you won’t have to pay for a hotel room or holiday home rental

Since the Caribbean countries are near each other, you can take day trips to the nearby islands and return home, allowing you to save money on your other travels.

Whenever you’re not in Antigua and Barbuda, you can rent it to travelers. As such, you can earn additional income, which you can use to offset some of the expenses you incurred from purchasing the property.

An Antigua and Barbuda passport also lets you enjoy several tax benefits, including freedom from inheritance, gift, wealth, and global income taxes. You may also be exempt from withholding taxes and import duties.

With this Antigua and Barbuda vacation guide, we hope we’ve helped you plan your visit here. If you’re considering obtaining second citizenship from this beautiful country, contact us so we can discuss the process with you.
